How Dangerous Is the Speed Limit?

I saw this video and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to post it here. Everyone needs to head over and watch this video. It really puts the test in practice of the ’speed limit’. How dangerous is the speed limit?

Go Paid, Go Video, Go Google

As it was earlier mentioned, Google is starting a video download service that will cost money. This is new for something offered by Google, charging for a service, since nearly everything being offered so far is free. Other products such as Google Analytics, Google Mail (GMail), Google Earth, and Froogle, have all been free services so far. Could this video download-pay service be the start of a new trend for Google or is it only a way to pay for higher quality products? Like always, something we will just have to wait on and see in the near future.

DivX Opens Up Shop With Google

LAS VEGAS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Jan. 6, 2006–DivX Inc. and Google Inc. today announced the companies will work together to make Google Video accessible on consumer electronics devices, enabling consumers to bring their video content into the connected home and with them anywhere they go.

Google is going to start formatting with DivX and hopefully bring more of a push for DivX users in the world. A good portion of the world only knows of DivX and has never actually used the software — this push will be good to get their name out there and start selling more products. DivX is not only making the push with Google Video, but they are also making the push with 50 million other devices to be available for the software.

Google and CBS Stir Up Some Talk

Google and CBS have been talking about doing a joint venture together about broadcasting video over the web. CBS was looking for an online media to be provided and Google felt it has the resources to do so. Yahoo! also has a hand in this meeting about being able to provide online content for the TV network. CBS is looking for a provider of TV shows and other like footage to simply be available on the Internet. They want to be available and searchable so people can easily find what they are looking for in a timely manner.

Google Video

So what does this mean for the rest of the community? It means that advertising could be cut down and that TV could possibly be making its way out the door. They might throw in advertising to the online content that they want to make available, but it’s very early to be able to say for sure which direction they are going in. CBS is not the only company that is wanting to go this route; but Viacom, NBC Universal and Disney have all taken a stance on this online content. A lot of this has to do with the recent showcase of Apple’s online content of TV episodes for their iPod Video.
