Froogle Localizing the Base
According to NYTimes.com, Froogle is now integrating into Google Base to help localize shopping for its users. The Froogle and Base service will use a third-party database extension of national product inventory that is organized by locality.
Additionally, local merchants will be able to send Google product information that will be searchable from Froogle. For example, if users type “iPod Nano New York,” they will see map information with the locations of stores that have the iPod Nano in stock.

This means that Froogle will be offering a localized shopping experience for users and will be able to offer more extensive product listings. This will help generate more traffic for the less-active stores and/or help generate more revenue for everyone, including Google. The integration of Google Base and Google Froogle will be a good merge between the two application levels. This is a good move. Google is staying innovation, just the way they need to in order to stay on top.
