Froogle Localizing the Base

Google BaseAccording to NYTimes.com, Froogle is now integrating into Google Base to help localize shopping for its users. The Froogle and Base service will use a third-party database extension of national product inventory that is organized by locality.

Additionally, local merchants will be able to send Google product information that will be searchable from Froogle. For example, if users type “iPod Nano New York,” they will see map information with the locations of stores that have the iPod Nano in stock.

Google - Froogle

This means that Froogle will be offering a localized shopping experience for users and will be able to offer more extensive product listings. This will help generate more traffic for the less-active stores and/or help generate more revenue for everyone, including Google. The integration of Google Base and Google Froogle will be a good merge between the two application levels. This is a good move. Google is staying innovation, just the way they need to in order to stay on top.

Google Raising the Stakes for Advertising

According to FinancialExpress.com, Google has been slowly making progress with Google Base. Google Base will simply be the means and methods of hosting offline and online content to all kinds of publishers and users. Base will start out only supporting English as the language of choice, but I’m sure they will branch out to other languages shortly after launching the service. But what makes Base so special? Google Base will have the functionality to enable users to add specific attributes and custom fields to the content so that the ’searchability’ of the content are much easier to use. Base will be the bottom line for searching through content.

As a thought, Google Base may be able to integrate into Google Print in some sort of fashion so that users could have discussions on books or contribute to other articles. This is just an idea, not a rumor or fact, but a possibility that may happen in the future. But in the end, Google is helping provide a platform for people without a blog, without their own website, and for people that simply may just not be tech savvy enough to handle the ins and outs of the World Wide Web (WWW). Google is helping build the structure needed to bring content globally to everyone and distribute the content that has been needed for years.

Google Base

Google Base is in the Beta stages of its application and will hopefully be completely launched, final, soon. The fully managed accounts that will be integrated into their ‘Google Accounts’ will be nice to have everything centralized. We, as a community, look forward to the full launch of Google Base and especially look forward to the future and possibilities it brings to our generations.
